This is my 2nd upload of this video because in the 1st upload there were bursts of audio distortion. I hope it does not happen this time. Some dynamics are back and fidelity is better this time !!- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -This was at my recent solo recital. I was disappointed with the sound of the 2nd piano, but it seemed okay with the audience. A good friend of mine who started playing the piano only recently, came up with this song. It is the recurring theme of the violin concerto, regarded as one of the best symphonies ever written. Normally when you translate a violin piece to a piano piece, you lose the touch of the song. With this one however, I think it is remarbly well-transcribed. [ More Detail ]
My first REAL classical piano video! Thanks to one of my family members for recording this video for me. This was a performance from the winner's recital of the 9th Annual Piano Concerto Competition, where I took 2nd place in senior division, which is from ages 16 to 21 (no one got first place in my division.. -.-). Any 1st and 2nd place winners got to get the experience of playing with a professional orchestra, and also won cash prize. I'm playing the first movement of Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 in g-minor. Please take into consideration that I had only 20-30 minutes of rehearsal the day before the concert with the orchestra. They had also cut the very last bit of the first movement because it did not sound like a complete ending, haha. I also made quite a few mistakes here and there, I was kinda nervous. -.- Why was this performance not perfect? 1) I'm human, lol, and 2) I was only given a month to learn and memorize this concerto. Constructive criticism is appreciated, but in reality, I probably won't use it because that performance was the last time I'll be playing that concerto. XDWell other than that, now that you guys have been begging me to post up a real classical video of myself, here it is! ENJOY! [ More Detail ]

Emil von Sauer was a pupil of Liszt (1811-1886), who made probably the most successful recordings of any of the Liszt pupils. Saue Emil von Sauer was a pupil of Liszt (1811-1886), who made probably the most successful recordings of any of the Liszt pupils. Saue Emil von Sauer was a pupil of Liszt (1811-1886), who made probably the most successful recordings of any of the Liszt pupils. Sauer was noted for his aristocratic approach to music-making, with lashings of charm, elegance and style backed up by phenomenal technique. This recording of the first of Liszt's piano concertos was made in 1938. The orchestra is conducted by Felix Weingartner (1863-1942), another of Liszt's pupils in fact.Sauer and Weingartner recorded both of Liszt's concertos, but I find their second concerto just a bit commonplace and unfocussed (if Sauer can ever be said to be "commonplace"!). The first concerto seems better to me, with its more straightforward tripartite structural division causing less problems of articulating the overall architecture. The performance is perhaps not quite as fiery and demonic as the it has to be to make its full effect. Though that said, Sauer's astonishing poetry and sheer refinement shine out, and the second, slow-movement-type section, features particularly outstanding piano playing. [ More Detail ]
