It briefly discusses Japanese Director Akira Kurosawa's connections with the Western world. It still suffers from some growing pains, but I must move on to other projects. One of very favorite scenes in Nobuta where Akira asks Shuji and Nobuta to call him by his last name. I think Yamapi was cute when he went Akira Shock and so was Kame when he sang the same tune as Yamapi [ More Detail ]
Clip #6: Double BassAkira came to fame with the four-piece Japanese jazz-fusion band Casiopea. Casiopea was formed in 1979 by guitarist Issei Noro, keyboardist Minoru Mukaiya, bassist Tetsuo Sakurai and drummer Takashi Sasaki. The band released its first album in May of 1979, a high-energy fusion of jazz and funk augmented by a horn section consisting of top American stars Michael and Randy Brecker and David Sanborn. Akira took over the drum chair in 1980, appearing on the band's third album, Thunder Live.Today his solo performances are legendary. Unlike many other clinicians who play along to sequenced backing tracks, Akira is quite capable of playing both acoustic kit and electronic kit simultaneously in real time to create amazing, complete pieces of music. Yet although he revels in complexity he is also very aware of the need to groove, to create a good feel.http://www.vicfirth.com/artists/akira_jimbo.html [ More Detail ]
This is the original Japanese theatrical trailer of the 1988 anime movie Akira based on the manga of the same name by Katsuhiro Otomo. I ripped this from the Akira Special Edition DVD on the Extras Disc. I love this movie. The first time I saw it as a kid, it scared the hell out of me. I highly recommend this film to all movie buffs - please watch in original Japanese dub with English subtitles - SAY NO TO ENGLISH DUBS! Enjoy. [ More Detail ]
AMV of Akira playing to Wolfmother's "Mind's Eye".2/22/2008- Well, looking back I can see a lot of mistakes in there, most notably at 2:11. That was terrible. But it's nice to see people are enjoying it for the most part, so maybe I'll make a new one soon. [ More Detail ]
