Máy chụp hình của ông ta đã bị công an tịch thu.Họ (công an) nói cho tôi biết rằng tôi đã chụp hình ở nơi không được phép chụp hình. Cú đánh vào đầu bằng máy chụp hình làm rách một vết thương dài và sâu ở đằng sau đầu ông ta.Bị chuyển đến một đồn công an khác để viết lời khai, khi xong xuôi ông Stocking mới được phép rời khỏi đồn với một viên chức Toà đại sứ Hoa kỳ và đưa vào một bịnh viện.Hãng AP đang phản đối vụ việc này, yêu cầu phải có một lời xin lỗi từ nhà cầm quyền Việt Nam và nhất quyết đòi trả lại các vật dụng của ông Stocking.Ðây là một việc trắng trợn về sự lộng hành của công an và cách đối xử không thể chấp nhận được đối với một ký giả của bất cứ một nhà nước văn minh nào, theo ông John Daniszewski, giám đốc biên tập tin tức quốc tế của hãng AP.
