with Pieter van Houwelingen. The combination travers flute with clavichord, works very well in my opinion. Moreover CPE. Bach prefered the clavichord for pieces with expression. I play this work with Pieter van Houwelingen, who lives and teaches recorder and traverso in Amsterdam. (Pieter was once, my first serious recorder teacher). The sonata Wotquenne 123 by Bach, was written in 1735, when he was still a law student at Frankfurt. etter quality: http://www.vimeo.com/1189206Pieter van HouwelingenRecorder, Baroque flutePieter van Houwelingen was born in Holland in 1951 and studied at the Rotterdam Conservatorium and the Royal Conservatory of Music in the Hague, with Kees Otten, Jeannette van Wingerden and Michael Barker (recorder) and with Martine Bakker (Baroque flute). He has performed all over Europe, in Israel and the USA. He has made the first CD recording of the newly-discovered sonatas for recorder and BC by Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer (Erasmus WHV 078). With guitarist/lute player Srdjan Berdovic he has recorded a CD with contemporary compositions, specially written for their ensemble "Strings 'n Holes"Mr. van Houwelingen is also in great demand as a teacher and lecturer, notably in international workshops for Early Music (Jerusalem, Dubrovnik , Arras etc.). Recently, Mr. van Houwelingen lectured at "Mannes School of Music", NYC, USA.Contact details and further informationPieter van Houwelingen Legmeerstraat 11/1 1058 NA Amsterdam, the Netherlands Tel/fax +31 (0)206177945E-mail pvanhouwelingen@gmail.com [ More Detail ]

Bach Bach Bach Bach BachJust following in the footsteps of my JPC buddy davebeeboss. I'm using the Czerny edition b/c I find it the least convoluted of the published editions I've found. I just need a guide to fingering, not the GPS roadmap ya know?I won't get in to my ideas on articulating Bach yet. I'm still torn between the schools of Gould vs. other modern masters. I actually really enjoy the way Jarrett articulates Bach. I think I mostly would like to model after him while adding a hint of detachedness that Gould brings to the table. This video obviously isn't the best example to discuss articulation on since it was written out in connected legato phrases. However, the fugue I'll be posting next will be. I'd love to hear the viewers thoughts on "how to" achieve the best articulation in "non-legato" pieces of the W.T.C. [ More Detail ]
