Beck's Bolero (extended version)1966 - Jeff Beck/Jimmy Page
This instrumental track was recorded in 1966 by Jeff Beck (lead guitars), Jimmy Page (12 string rhythm), John Paul Jones (bass), Keith Moon (drums) and Nicky Hopkins (piano). I had the extended version of this with backwards guitar at the end as the flip side of Beck's single, Hi Ho Silver Lining. However it is best known as a track on Beck's album Truth, minus this end bit. Here is the complete track.Jeff Beck quote: "You can hear Moon screaming in the middle of the record over the drum break. If you listen after the drum break you can only hear the cymbal afterwards 'cause he knocked the mic over! This track was recorded July 1st 1970 at the Electric Lady Studios. It features Billy Cox (bass), Mitch Mitchell (drums), Juma Sultan (percussion), and of course Jimi Hendrix (guitar). If I remember correctly, in some interview I read, Jimi Hendrix said that classical music, like Bach and Mozart inspired him to write this instrumental piece. Maya Plisetskaya / Ravel "Bolero" (Part 1)
Maya Plisetskaya was born in Moscow in 1925. She studied at the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet School. Became a principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet as soon as she joined it in 1943 and prima ballerina in 1962. After being excluded for political reasons many years from tours to the West, she was finally in 1959 allowed to join the American tour with the Bolshoi. She had great success in America. Since then she danced widely outside Russia and was guest artist at the Paris Opera Ballet in 1961 and 1964. She is Prima Ballerina Assoluta. Plisetskaya's first work as a choreographer was a ballet based on Tolstoy's Anna Karenina using music composed by her husband, the conductor Rodion Schedrin; it was staged in 1972 and filmed in 1974. Awards:She is Prima Ballerina Assoluta.People's Artist of Russia in 1959.Lenin Prize in 1964.Майя Михайловна Плисецкая, родилась в Москве, советская артистка балета, народная артистка СССР (1959).
