Chiba Makuhari, JAPAN - 1994 World Figure Skating Championships, Pairs' Free Program - Isabelle Brasseur and Lloyd Eisler of Canada skated extremely well considering the fact that Isabelle was dealing with a broken rib. She skated in pain without the use of any pain killer and only with a thin donut cushion under her costume to provide support to help get her through the program. Having to change their triple lateral twist into a single, and a hand touch down on the throw triple toe loop by Isabelle may have been enough for the judges to score them behind Shishkova &Naumov in the Free Program, giving them the Silver Medal. Munich, GERMANY - 1991 World Figure Skating Championships, Pairs' Technical Program - Isabelle Brasseur &Lloyd Eisler of Canada skated brilliantly here to earn 1st place going into the Free Program, proving that their silver a year ago was not a fluke. Loved the split-double twist lift where Isabelle gets so much hang-time that Lloyd was able to slap his hands down to his side, and that really accentuated the height of the lift and the distance she was above him. Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - Pairs' Long Program - Isabelle Brasseur &Lloyd Eisler (Canada) competing here after only being paired up together for 18 months. Lloyd previously appeared in Sarajevo in 1984 with Katherina Matousek. Notice: 3 throw jumps. This was the last season that was allowed before the ISU voted to change to what is now a limit of 2 throw jumps. Also, it appeared that only the Canadian pairs took advantage of putting 3 throw jumps into their programs. [ More Detail ]
Oakland, California, USA - My home video of the final flight of skaters. Here is Isabelle Brasseur &Lloyd Eisler. They started strong but then had 3 errors that cost them the Silver: fall on 2nd throw jump, fall on side by side double flips. They also opted to do side by side single Axels instead of doubles. I personally thought they lost the bronze medal as well, but luckily for them, Shishkova &Naumov had some major problems as well, allowing B&E to remain in 3rd after the Long Program. Since this wasn't a live US broadcast, notice how late this went. By the time the medal ceremony was over, it was close to 11:30 p.m. 14 to 16 hour days at Nationals or Worlds. By the end of the week during the Ladies' LP, I would be so exhausted! [ More Detail ]
