The release is finally here!http://rapidshare.com/files/140969416/Mario_Paint_Orchestra_1.0.zip.html(includes Mario Paint Plus in the collection)Mario paint Orchestra is a project I've been working on extensively for some time now. I've made some preview compositions upcoming to the release, and there have been videos made by a few other people (TheEvilGrimace and RehdBlob namely) which used the orchestra 0.7 beta. Granted, I didn't expect the controversy over this set due to its implications on the future of Mario Paint...so I'll explain my feelings on this.My intentions behind releasing these soundfonts are so people can have better tools in which to compose higher quality pieces, and to make the process considerably easier. In addition, one of my personal goals is to work for Nintendo as a composer. I got the idea to practice and learn music with Mario Paint Composer, and like everyone else, I ran into its limitations. But then I thought to myself, "Why not make it better?". So, here I am today, editing soundfonts.I'm actually quite surprised at how good Mario Paint can really sound, so I'm going to see how far I can take it. Imagine, a Mario Paint with no limits, and with sound so good it causes people's jaws to drop, and then be in disbelief when you say "Oh, this was made using Mario Paint sounds." That would be awesome wouldn't it? ^^So, personally I don't think there's that big of an issue with the state of Mario Paint. I don't think its ruined in any way. Its just maturing into something grander, into a more sophisticated art form, but its still Mario Paint at heart. :DOkay, that being said, onto the soundfont descriptions. There are two versions. One is a "PETA"-friendly version, which includes a full 80 animal chorus, with Yoshis, Dogs, Cats, and Pigs. :D I put the most work into this one, as I wanted to get as genuinely close as possible to it being a real chorus. Each voice is slightly modified in pitch, accent, timing, and location, for individuality. The other set is 1.0e....which e stands for EXTERMINATION! Yeah, take that you stupid animals! (HAHAHA! *hides from the impending mob* -- actually the e stands for Extended, which is similar to the Plus e but signifies octaves instead of note duration)All the animal and face sounds have been replaced with lower octave sounds for instruments more commonly used. I hope both sets will prove to be useful for all types of Mario Paint Composers. And here's the detailed description, including instrument names. ˆ-ˆv1.0 2008.08.29- Vast improvements have been made to the instruments. Most instruments have been given a 15% reverb which substantially increases the sound quality, and extended to 2 seconds or more,- Vibrato and attack softening has also been implemented for most instruments.Sound List:- "Singing" Soprano Marios: Mario apparently has a very beautiful voice which he has hidden from the world until now. - Glass Starmonica: Made slightly offtune, slowed attack substantially and added tremolo to give a soft, but eerie armonica like feel.- The Animal Choir: 80 voice chorus consisting of 20 Countertenor Yoshis, 20 Tenor Dogs, 20 Mezzo-Soprano Cats, and 20 Bass Pigs. Most extensive modification as each voice is varied in pitch, accent, timing, and location. - Trumpet Flowers: Not much has changed aside from vibrato.- "Zelda" Gameboys: Simulated the sound apparent in the opening to The Legend of Zelda.- "Cello" Swans: Swan is now of a violin type.- "Mature" Baby Face: Baby is all grown up now, and as such has a more mature voice.- "Piano" Planes: Given a more spacial location to give a fuller sound.- "Pipe Organ" Cars: Added 40% reverb.- "Bass" Heart: Boring! Not much has changed, lowered it by one octave.v1.0e (Instrument Pitch Extension)- Non-animal friendly version of the soundset. All animals and faces have been replaced with extensions of more common instruments.- Yoshi replaced with 2 octaves lower Gameboy sound.- Dog replaces with 2 octaves lower Flower sound- Cat replaced with Cello Swan sound.- Pig replaced with 1 octave lower Plane sound.- Swan stays as the normal orchestra hit, 1 octave lower.- Face replaced with 2 octaves lower Mario sound.- Plane is now 1 octave higher.Download, comment, rate! This new upload may seem a bit out of place next to my belcanto-orientated recent postings, but the piece in question is just too delightful to pass. Most of the description is taken from "allmusic.com", while my commentaries will be mostly my personal impressions of the variations."At the end of an overlong day laden with teaching and other duties, Edward Elgar lit a cigar, sat at his piano and began idling over the keys. To amuse his wife, the composer began to improvise a tune and played it several times, turning each reprise into a caricature of the way one of their friends might have played it or of their personal characteristics. "I believe that you are doing something which has never been done before," exclaimed his wife". Thus, as the legend tells us, was born one of music's great works of original conception, and Elgar's greatest large-scale "hit": the Enigma Variations. The enigma is twofold: each of the 14 variations refers to a friend of Elgar's, who is depicted by the nature of the music, or by sonic imitation of laughs, vocal inflections, or quirks, or by more abstract allusions. The other enigma is the presence of a larger "unheard" theme which is never stated but which according to the composer is very well known. A third enigma formed, when I decided to upload the variations, as I am completely baffled about the identity of either the conductor or the orchestra. But getting back to the work itself, the work contains some most charming and interesting music. As the piece is about thirty minutes long, I've divided it into three parts, each one finishing with a furious allegro passage (and, interestingly enough, the variations go well this way).XII. B.G.N. (andante; 0:00), Basil G. Nevinson, a well-known cellist, who gets a cello melody for his variation, just like in the Ysobel variation, where viola was used for the violist.XIII. Romance (moderato; 2:35). Because of the lack of initials, the identity of the person is unclear and remains an enigma within the Enigma. However, the music includes a quotation from Felix Mendelssohn's concert overture "Calm sea and prosperous voyage" which leads to speculation that it depicts either Lady Mary Lygon, local noblewoman on a voyage to Australia at the time, or Helen Weaver, who was Elgar's fiancée before she emigrated to New Zealand in 1884. At certain intervals, the timpani create a sound reminiscent of a ship's engines, by means of hard sticks or, traditionally, coins. Interestingly enough, the melody is varied several times within the variation, possibly to symbolize Elgar's conflicting emotions towards the person depicted, though the variation returns at the very end to the serenity of the beginning.XIV. E.D.U. (allegro presto; 5:23), Elgar himself, "Edu" being his wife's nickname for him. This heartily extroverted, even boisterous, finale ties together the first variation and the Nimrod themes, as though to suggest that the composer has taken advice to heart and is determined to succeed. The entry of an organ in the final measures brings the work to a confident, happy close. The original variation No. 14 is 100 bars shorter than the version now usually played. In July 1899, one month after the original version was finished, Jaeger, from variation No. 9, urged Elgar to make the variation a little longer. Elgar eventually agreed, and added an organ part.Hope you enjoyed it :)! [ More Detail ]

This is the final selection from my senior trumpet recital. I've already been playing for 50 minutes which accounts for the, ahem, interesting ending to Mario (no disrespect Mario but I was tired). The order of tunes that I arranged were Halo Piano Theme, Theme from Xena, Zelda's Lullaby, Eternity from Final Fantasy X-2, Into the West from Lord of the Rings, Hawaii 5-0, and Mario. Xena and Hawaii 5-0 were chosen by my trumpet professors as their favorite pop culture tunes in case you were wondering. The rest are personal favorites of mine. I also have a cello part written but he wasn't able to be at the recital. I think it would sound much better with a cello but we'll see if I can get a chance to record it.Overall, it was a great experience arranging the music and I'm happy with how it turned out. There is good music in video games and movies and it should be performed more often. Anyway, thanks for checking this out. Keep making music! [ More Detail ]

It took about 25 minutes to film and hours to edit. As you can tell I ramble and flub my words a lot...the first segment was done in the morning when there was more light but I went to work so there was less light available to work with after fact 2. I had to add some more unnatural light which is why it looks different.Fact 1: My webcam was given to me by my boyfriend (0:21)Fact 2: I have a cat (0:57)Fact 3: I play cello (1:31)Fact 4: I wear glasses (4:40)Fact 5: I work at Rite Aid (5:22)The Cello took more than 3 tries, and I do usually look like that when I play, though I was trying to smile more...Disclaimer: I do not own the Song of Storms, Zelda, or Rite Aid (Nor have I ever claimed to) so please don't sue my a$$ or accuse me of copyright infringement.
