Short version of extreme video of the Quinter, Kansas tornado crossing I-70. This massive EF 4 tornado was initially a wedge as it moved northward. It changed shapes and at times, there were multiple funnels. The tornado crossed I-70 just west of Quinter, KS sweeping a car into the ditch. Luckily, the injured occupant recovered. This is a short version of a very long HD video of the tornado. There was also a previous Quinter tornado that I filmed earlier that day. I have uploaded a longer version to my account along with other sharp high definition tornado videos. These are available for licensing at www.harkphoto.com [ More Detail ]

This video has no "defined" funnel cloud as it was inside a bigger cell, but this EF3/EF4 tornado was too close for comfort. After the tornado hit, we had another thundercell pelt us with golf ball sized hail, damaging everyones vehicles and RV's. [ More Detail ]
May 23, 2008 about 3 miles west of Quinter, Kansas. Multi-vortex tornado becomes near wedge size at EF4 strength and approaches I-70. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/crnews/display_story.php?wfo=gld&storyid=14861&source=0Tornado weakens but then intensifies just prior to hitting the Interstate, crossing the highway just west of the overpass and very near if not over the location from where this video began. Luckily, it missed the overpass where drivers were taking refuge. DO NOT SEEK SHELTER FROM A TORNADO UNDER A BRIDGE! Contrary to popular belief, it is not safe shelter and may endanger not only yourself but others that get blocked by the traffic jam you help create:http://www.srh.noaa.gov/oun/papers/overpass.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tornado_myths [ More Detail ]
Video showing us 'unintentionally' getting hit by the WaKeeney EF-1 Tornado that hit on May 22nd, 2008. Our VORTEX anemometer recorded winds of 176km/hr (110mph) before it was destroyed. We also intercepted the Quinter, KS EF-4 Tornado too, but it's hard to see in the video because the visibility was bad because it was quite hazy and humid. [ More Detail ]

May 08 Tornado Fest Day 2!On May 23rd, 2008 me and my chase partner, Chris Wilburn, along with Jay Cazel and Genaro Estrada tracked a large and destructive wedge tornado as it moved north towards the town of Quinter, Kansas. The tornado was very hard to film due to its distance to us and a weak cell that was producing rain between us and the tornado and because of the already rain soaked roads which became very poor and sloppy from the tornado outbreak that hit the area the day before. The tornado thankfully narrowly missed the town but did destroy several homes and pitch a few cars into nearby fields as it passed over Interstate 70. Only one person was injured as the tornado hit their vehicle. If this tornado had tracked a mile to the east it would have moved right into the tiny community of Quinter, that town, like many others on the 22nd and 23rd was blessed with amazing luck.
