Since pulling out of the Gaza Strip in September 2005, Israel continues to monitor the situation along the Gaza border but is unable to prevent the massive network of tunnels from sprouting up along the narrow Gaza-Egypt border, used to smuggle terrorists, explosives and weapons as well as drugs and other goods into Gaza. Egypt powerless to prevent the tunnel smuggling has perhaps realized a little too late that it should have taken harsher action earlier. In recent weeks US troops worked together with Egyptian forces and using state of the art technology uncovered and destroyed 42 smuggling tunnels along the 14 kilometer border with Egypt. 10/06/08 [ More Detail ]

Date: Thursday 29th December 2005Airline: EgyptairFlight No: MS162Aircraft: Airbus A321-200Departure Airport: Luxor, EgyptArrival Airport: Sharm El Sheikh, EgyptTake-off Time: 7:13amArrival Time: 7: 51amThe start of our long journey back to Israel started by getting an Egyptair flight to Sharm El Sheikh where we would then be escorted to the Egypt/Israel border at Taba. The flight was only 40 mins and was onboard a very comfortable Airbus A321-200. It was the very first time I had been on a A321 and I can say that it is a quiet and comfortable plane with more legroom than a Boeing 737.I took some shots of the desert below. Because the flight time was so short, we only cruised to a height of 18,000ft, so I managed to get some really good shots. I have slowed down the shots of the desert because it compliments the song better.Music is "Montmat" performed by the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. [ More Detail ]
