This was the premiere of Strassfogel´s unique piece for the guitar in Mexico. A friend of Andrés Segovia and many times conductor of Ponce´s Concerto del Sur with Segovia as a Solist, Ignace Strassfogel, was the conductor of the New York Metropolitan Orchestra, and a composer. Unfortunately this guitar masterwork was never played by Segovia due to his dislike of contemporary music and composers such as Strassfogel or Frank Martin. The Concert was held at the Degollado Thatre in Guadalajara, Mexico during the 2008 May Culture Festival in Jalisco in which this year Germany was the guest country.(SPANISH)Nació en Varsovia en 1909. [ More Detail ]

This is a piece I wrote a while back for Piano and bassoon. A friend of mine is a bassoonist and I noticed that there isn't really a lot of chamber music with a solo-part for the bassoon, so I decided to write some music for it. This petit Elegie is dedicated to the very same friend mentioned earlier: Pieter Goossens.Enjoy. [ More Detail ]

This was recorded to computer from the original vinyl LP Horses. Sorry about the crackle, I think this gives it authenticity. Enjoy!_________________________"Elegie"I just don't know what to do tonight,My head is aching as I drink and breatheMemory falls like cream in my bones, moving on my own. There must be something I can dream tonight,The air is filled with the moves of you,All the fire is frozen yet still I have the will, ooh, ah.Trumpets, violins, I hear them in the distanceAnd my skin emits a ray, but I think it's sad, it's much too badThat our friends can't be with us today. This is Rachmaninoff's Elegie played by me, Tom Ferrell. I absolutely love this piece! This is a piece that you can really express in your own way. There are so many different ways to play it that I have trouble deciding my favorite. Kind of hard to explain, but I'm sure some will understand. Enjoy! [ More Detail ]
