READ THIS PLEASE:I made this video, because I love darkness and shadows, which are always behind us in our every careful step..Whole video is split to two parts. Mainly, this video is about music and wise citations of wise human beings. So the visual/picture part of video is relativly just a background. Maybe you find some sequences boring, but if you are sensitive enough, you find out its point.:)I am from Czech republic, but I made the video in english, because It is accessible for people around the whole world, not only in our country.:) I want to warn you; english is not my born lenguage, so excuse my mistakes, which you can somewhere explore.:) I hope you enjoy the music, here is the list of bands that I love and use for background of my video. Thank you for your wonderful music :DraconianThe ForeshadowingMoonspellFlowing TearsMy Dying BrideEmpyriumTiamatFuneralSwallow the SunI also want to thanks DeviantArt and his members for many beautiful arts and pictures, that I also use in this video.Well than, goodbye and good luck.Storm [ More Detail ]
So I decided to re-do this song because I wasn't too happy with the old one. Basically so you people see how I've progressed in 2 years. I'm leaving the other video up for comparison.Just a couple comments before you watch:Obviously not perfect... I'm not AILD.The ending fades out because I ran out of memory on the camera. This is not my usual setup, but the one I had at the time.(I usually use a Peavey Ultra Plus stack)No editing was done to the guitar audio, with the exception of the small part where the music stops. I automated the EQ kinda mimicking the original song.I don't have any tabs of this song. I learned it by ear. This is in Dropped C tuning.HOW I DID THIS:I had a Canon picture camera recording the video, meanwhile I had my amp miked with what you see in the video and was recording it onto my computer through a Presonus TubePre preamp into my Presonus Firestudio Project and into Nuendo 2. I layed the original track on top, did some compressing to clean it up, automated the section where the song stops, and exported the audio into my video editing program. In this video i recite propertius' second elegy from his first book of elegies in latin. i try to approach what is supposed to be the "historic" latin pronuntiation, but after all ... noby knows for sure how it sounded more than 2000 years ago. I accidently said "nullos" instead of "nullis" in line 21. see the latin text under the following german text. Quid iuvat ornato procedere, vita, capillo et tenuis Coa veste movere sinus, aut quid Orontea crines perfundere murra, teque peregrinis vendere muneribus, naturaeque decus mercato perdere cultu, 5nec sinere in propriis membra nitere bonis?crede mihi, non ulla tuaest medicina figurae:nudus Amor formam non amat artificem.aspice quos summittat humus non fossa colores,ut veniant hederae sponte sua melius, 10surgat et in solis formosior arbutus antris,et sciat indocilis currere lympha vias.litora nativis praefulgent picta lapillis,et volucres nulla dulcius arte canunt.non sic Leucippis succendit Castora Phoebe, 15Pollucem cultu non Helaira soror;non, Idae et cupido quondam discordia Phoebo,Eueni patriis filia litoribus;nec Phrygium falso traxit candore maritumavecta externis Hippodamia rotis: 20sed facies aderat nullis obnoxia gemmis, qualis Apelleis est color in tabulis.non illis studium fuco conquirere amantes:illis ampla satis forma pudicitia.non ego nunc vereor ne sis tibi vilior istis: 25uni si qua placet, culta puella sat est;cum tibi praesertim Phoebus sua carmina donetAoniamque libens Calliopea lyram, unica nec desit iucundis gratia verbis, omnia quaeque Venus, quaeque Minerva probat, 30his tu semper eris nostrae gratissima vitae, taedia dum miserae sint tibi luxuriae. Nikolai Medtner: Elegy in E-flat minor, Op. 59 No. 2 (on 1892 6'2" Knabe grand)---a thick and intensely melancholy piece, shot through with lyricism of unusual beauty: I know nothing else quite like it. [ More Detail ]
Sergei Liapunov: Elegy, Op. 40 No. 2 (on 1892 6'2" Knabe grand)---sorry about that bobbled note at the end: I was too tired to replay the whole thing just for THAT! Ignore it for now, if you can, and I'll rerecord later. [ More Detail ]
Twilight ZoneEpisode 020ElegySynopsis: Running out of fuel, astronauts Meyers, Webber, and Kirby land their spaceship on a remote asteroid. They find the place quite Earth-like with buildings and people, but walk around and begin to wonder where everyone is. The first place they come to is a farm. The astronauts look around, and find no one. No one, that is, until they see the farmer, with his back to the astronauts, gazing off into the distance. They approach him, tap him on the shoulder and try talking to him, then they realize he is nothing more than a statue. The men later come across a town hall in which a mayor is being elected, surrounded by people and a band playing. They can hear the music playing, but everyone is stock-still. A beauty pageant is where they find themselves next, where there are several beauty queens being judged on the stage, and lots of people in the audience, but everyone is still as if they were frozen in time. As they exit that room, the camera stays on a person in the audience, who suddenly moves. The astronauts look for some time, and grow more and more disturbed by their surroundings as they find that everyone is holding still creepily. Finally, they are startled to find someone who does move: Wickwire, the caretaker of this place. Wickwire explains to the astronauts that the asteroid they have landed on is an exclusive cemetery founded in 1973 where rich people can live their greatest wish in life after they die. He is told that an atomic war destroyed much of the earth, and that it has taken over two hundred years to recover from it. Wickwire serves the three men wine and asks what their greatest wish is. All three reply that they wish they were on their ship heading for home. Suddenly, they realize that their drinks have been poisoned. As the men die, Wickwire (who is actually a robot that has been off for two hundred years and only turns on when he's needed, such as to dust) apologizes, saying that he needs to ensure the peaceful tranquility of the cemetery because men are incapable of peace.Later, Wickwire installs the embalmed bodies back in their ship, posing them as if they were in fact on their way home. Just as they wished. [ More Detail ]
